Throwback – Christmas Camping 2020

Before the arrival of the ‘smart tent’ as Mrs N calls it, we were proper full on seasoned tent campers. The box trailer would be loaded up, covered with a tarpaulin and strapped down. I am not sure exactly what all our camping gear weighed, but needless to say we would have fallen well within the heavy camper category.

One of our favourite places to camp as a family for a number of years is the Kauaeranga Valley about half an hour up a gravel road in the hills of the Coromandel Peninsula.

The campsites are run and managed by DOC (Department of Conservation) and provide a basic low cost campsite that has a vault toilet, but you bring everything else.
